Yes, my daughter turned twelve last week, and she’s heading up to Girls’ Camp as a yearling tomorrow. I believe I’ve been exhibiting some signs that may be typical of other mothers in my position. 1. Young Women: Camp

It is time to start preparing for your young woman to go camping for the summer. Young Women’s camp is a great experience for most girls. The camp should teach good survival and nature skills (although many of these will be covered in pre-camp activities) and it allows your girls to grow spiritually. If you are the parent of a young woman, you should encourage your daughter to attend. Many camps now take place in cabins at nice campgrounds. There are not as many wards that camp in tents anymore. As someone who is not overly fond of hiking and the outdoors in general, I always attended Girls’ Camp at the orders of my mother. She had made me a deal that if I went for the four years to pass of everything, that I would not have to go again. I went my four years, and I haven’t been since. Young Women is a truly important program. It is an opportunity for the young women to learn about the gospel, and more. The program should include opportunities for the young women to learn to care for their home and future family. It should also provide opportunities for the young women to build their self-esteem and develop positive peer relationships.
