Young Women: Thanking Your Leaders

The summer is an extremely busy time for young women's leaders. It can be quite stressful for the leaders to spend time away from their families for camp and then youth conference. This is in addition to the time spent each week on Sundays and Wednesday evenings. Now would be a great time to let your young women's leaders know how much you appreciate all the time that they spend serving. Here are three ideas:

1) You could have your daughter write a note of appreciation and take a plate of cookies by the leaders home. This is a great way to have your daughter learn to show gratitude for those who help her. You may want to add a note of your own.

2) Another great way to show your gratitude is to offer to watch the leader's children so she and her husband can out on a date or on a trip to the temple. Many couples with large church callings struggle to have time together as a couple. This service is a great one to provide.

3) Another way that you can help is to be available to baby sit her children during activities. There may be times when her husband is out of town, or special activities, such as dances or temple trips, where her husband goes as well. You can help out the leaders by being available to watch the kids during this time of need.

Additionally it is important to realize that in our church, we each have times when we are serving each other. By doing your best at your current calling, you are showing your appreciation to your leaders. For example my husband served as Scoutmaster to a boy who is the son of his bishop while he was a youth. He was able to help the boy achieve Eagle, which was another way of saying thanks for the bishop's service.
