If you have a daughter who is about to turn twelve, she is most likely excited about entering the Young Women's program. This is a wonderful program designed with the girls in mind. The girls get to help plan the activities, so the program will does meet the needs of the girls. If this is your first daughter entering the Young Women's program you may not know exactly what to expect.

The girls move up on their birthdays. Your daughter will begin as a Beehive, then progress to a Miamaid and then a Laurel. Depending on the size of the program in your ward your daughter may have a Beehive 1 class and then move up to Beehive 2, and so on. If the program is very small than the girls will all meet together each week.

Once your daughter is in young women's, she will meet with the young women for a class on Sundays. She will also be asked to attend weekly activities with the young women. Once a month these activities will be combined with the young men in the ward. In the summer the young women will have a camp for a week.

The young women work on Personal Progress program. It is a program designed to bring the young woman closer to Christ as she reads scriptures, sets goals and prays. It is a great program, which she can complete as quickly as she wants to.

If you have a daughter with special needs, please let your young women's leaders know the best way for them to include your daughter in the program. They will want to make your daughter feel welcome and included. If you outline the needs of your daughter before she begins attending, it will help to make the transition go more smoothly
