In every marriage there are going to be difficult times. These could be times when you and your spouse are not getting along. These times could come as a result of medical problems or other crises in your family. It could be that one of your has drifted away from the marriage relationship. It is important that you spend time together working through these difficult times in your relationship. Here are five tips to help you through these times.

1) You should pray together every day. As you pray together you will grow closer. You can pray that your differences will be resolved. You can pray for the strength you need to get through the trials that you are currently facing. You can pray for others as well.

2) Take time to talk to each other every day. You may not want to discuss the problems that you are facing or dealing with in every conversation. This could drive you apart. I am not saying to just ignore the issues-they do need to be dealt with-but I am saying that you can spend time talking about other things as well. An easy way to keep your discussions neutral is to study the gospel together.

3) If you are having problems in your relationship you may want to seek counseling. You can speak to your bishop for guidance in these difficult times. He may suggest that you attend marriage counseling together as well.

4) It is important to work on your outlook of your marriage. This can be as simple as looking for the positive qualities in your spouse, and thanking him for the things he does. You may want to do simple acts of kindness for each other.

5) Take time to continue to court each other. This means spending time dating each other, talking to each other and being together. Take time to remember the things you enjoyed most about your courtship and reintroduce them into the marriage.
