Visiting Teaching Message - The Gospel of Jesus Christ Teaches the Reality of Our Premortal Existencby Tristi Pinkston | More from this Blogger 07 Jun 2008 02:30 PM Our visiting teaching message for the month of June is entitled, "The Gospel of Jesus Christ Teaches the Reality of Our Premortal Existence." As always, we are asked to read the message with our assigned sisters and share our thoughts and feelings on the principles we have taught, bearing testimony. Elder Richard G. Scott tells us that we were in Heaven before we came to earth, in the presence of our Father. We were taught and prepared for the things we would encounter in this life, but we are not allowed to remember our lives before, to ensure that we would be fairly tested. However, we are given guidance to bring us back to our heavenly home, shown how by our obedience to the gospel. Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin states that a great war in Heaven commenced, as those who sided with the Savior battled it out with those who sided with Satan. The fact that we are here on this earth proves that we were on the Savior's side then. We should be on the Savior's side now. As women, we knew what role we were to play before we ever came to this earth. Sister Elaine L. Jack says that we were taught who we are and what we are to do, of the importance of eternal families and our amazing potential. As we embrace our roles as daughters and women of God, we will find great happiness. President Spencer W. Kimball said that if we looked at our existence as simply being life on earth, we might get bogged down with discouragement. However, as we look at earth life as being merely a part of our existence, we can see the potential for eternal joy, and that will help us through the trials we must endure here.
