Top 10 Ways You Know Your Kids Are Learning the Gospelby Nola Redd | More from this Blogger 01 Feb 2007 08:00 AM We try and try to teach our kids about the gospel of Christ, but we never really know if they hear us. We dream about them coming to us at the age of thirty, having served a mission and been sealed in the temple, and telling us that they were listening every single time. But in the here and now, we have very little ways of knowing if our teachings are actually absorbed. And then there are the times we wish they hadn't. Here are ten ways you know that your kids really are listening to the gospel lessons you present. 10. Your son packs his suitcase up to run away. When you asked where he is planning to go, he announces that he is leaving for his mission a few years early. 9. As you berate your kids for giving in to peer pressure, you ask them, "If someone jumped off a cliff, would you follow them?" "Only if it's the prophet!" they say, and then start humming "Follow the Prophet". 8. At bathtime, you go in to find the floor flooded and your child sitting in a laundry basket. "Do you like my ark?" they ask. 7. As your children argue over a toy, you hear one announce, "You have to be nice to me! You're stuck with me forever!" 6. Driving down the road, your kids keep telling you to turn right. When you ask why, they tell you that you need to "Choose the right!" 5. One child smacks the other across the face. When you intervene, the offender says, "But Mom, I'm just trying to teach him/her to turn the other cheek." 4. You smile to hear your kids singing "Scripture Power" - until you realize they are taking turns whacking each other with a copy of the Book of Mormon. 3. Before eating peanut butter and jelly, they try to bless the bread using the sacrament prayer. 2. Your oldest child has gotten extremely bossy lately (moreso than usual). When you try to figure out why, you learn that she has decided to conduct the household. 1. When your daughter asks you where the matches are, you realize that she has tied your son to a chair leg. "What are you doing?" you try not to shriek. Your son smiles up at you and announces, "I'm Abinidi!"
