Tonight I’m going to visit some of the women in my ward for visiting teaching, and decided to sit down and read the message for this month, titled, If we do not doubt. Sister Beck speaks of the importance for the women of the church to keep our covenants, and not doubt, and then in turn, the promise is made to us that those around us will not doubt either. Visiting Teaching By Inspiration

At a recent stake Relief Society training session, I learned something about home and visiting teaching that I had never heard before. In my ten years of visiting sisters in the ward, I generally followed the message published in the Ensign. However, I learned that in various cases – particularly including new and inactive members – the home and visiting teachers have the opportunity to teach outside of the proscribed lessons. When it comes down to obedience, there are three main reasons to obey. The first comes from fear – looming punishment frightens us. The second comes from reward – we seek the prize or present.
