Our Daughter’s Baptism Part II

Preparations continued the next day for the celebration of our daughter’s upcoming baptism in the evening. I woke earlier than normal in anticipation for all that needed to take place. I wanted to start the day on a positive note and for me that meant with a quick breakfast, a gruelling workout, and a much needed shower. Once these three things were successfully completed, I was able to move on to the real preparations of the day. The first task was to make the dessert, which for me is the most important element of any celebration! I had decided to … Continue reading

Gospel Questions: What about Infant Baptism?

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe strongly in the ordinance of baptism. We believe that it is a necessary step toward returning to our Heavenly Father. We are taught that no unclean thing can enter Heaven, and it is through baptism and repentance that we become clean, and therefore, we must be baptized. There is no way around it. However, we do differ from some other churches in that we do not baptize our infants. We wait until the child is eight years old. We do this because we believe that baptism is more than … Continue reading

The Symbolism of Baptism

Most of us can recall our baptism day. I remember wading into the warm water, how weightless I felt, and wondering why my dad was wearing white socks in the water. However, it’s not necessary … Continue reading

Additionally if you have teenagers you may want to discuss a different conference talk each week. If you have a child in Nursery or Sunbeams he learned about being grateful for animals. The children learned that God created the animals. They also learned that God saved the animals from the flood. You may … Continue reading

RS/EQ: Obedience Born of Faith in God

As we continue to catch up on the Spencer W. Kimball lessons from the 2007 course of study, let’s take a look at #13, entitled, “Obedience Born of Faith in God.” When we have true faith, it acts as a motivating force for us as we seek to do the will of God. As we exercise that faith, it keeps us moving forward, even though we may not have concrete proof. We can tap into the world of miracles without knowing just how they came about much as we can enjoy light without understanding the principles of electricity. Just as … Continue reading
