Overwhelmed and Inadequate?

It is so common to deal with feelings of inadequacy. There are times when you may simply be overwhelmed with the responsibilities that are resting on your shoulders as a member of the church, a parent or just a person. It is important to realize that we are not expected to be perfect. We should be striving to improve ourselves, but we are not expected to be perfect. Some days you may have those aha moments when every thing clicks together and your understanding increases dramatically. But generally you will progress an inch or two at a time. Scripture Study and My Day

Today has been one of those days where I rattle around, attempting to do a long list of tasks, and not getting anything done. As I sat down at my computer preparing to begin my writing for the day I asked myself what was wrong with me today. And it hit me that I hadn’t read my scriptures yet today. So I went and read them, and prayed, and I’ve felt so much more peaceful today. Daily scripture reading is a chance to focus and to be still. The building is dedicated to the worship of God, and while there, patrons make promises to Heavenly Father and renew the promises they’ve already made. A feeling of peace pervades the atmosphere as the patrons put aside their … Continue reading

A House of Order

Have you ever noticed, when you walk into the temple, how clean it is? I’ve never seen a speck of lint, or carpet fuzz—I’ve never seen a cobweb, let alone a whole spider. My sister used to work in the temple and they would go in every night and polish the place until it shone, even making sure that all the vacuum marks in the carpet pointed the right way. They did this to show their reverence for God and respect for His house, and when we go in to worship, we are welcomed by the clean and fresh surroundings … Continue reading

Elder Eyring then stresses the importance of serving the Lord each day. He points out that service to the Lord helps you to draw closer to Him. Elder Eyring encourages each of us to begin the day with a prayer to ask the Lord where you can serve today. Elder Eyring says: … Continue reading
