If you have a young man or young women who will be entering ninth grade next year. It is time to begin thinking about enrolling your child in a seminary program. The seminary program offers a gospel-centered class that meets every week. The classes usually meet Mondays through Fridays and follow the local school schedule.

If you live in a heavily LDS populated area, then it is likely that your child will have the option to sign up for release time seminary. Usually the seminary building is located right off the school grounds, and students will walk to the building to attend the class during one of the school periods each day. This is an easy way to enjoy the blessings that seminary has to offer.

If you live in an area that is not predominantly LDS, your child will most likely attend early morning seminary. Early morning seminary usually begins at 6:00 a.m. and it may take place at the church building or in someone's home. The seminary teachers for early morning are called to serve, and so they receive no compensation for the time that they spend preparing the lessons.

Either option comes with the same blessings for attendance. The lesson manual is provided to the teachers by the church. Each year the students will spend the time studying a different book of scripture (Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants). This will help the students have a firm grasp of the scriptures by the time that they graduate.

It may require sacrifice for your child to attend seminary. If your child is attending early morning seminary, you may be required to drive them each day to seminary. Seminary does provide wonderful opportunities for your child to grow spiritually. If you or your child want to learn more about seminary there is a wonderful web site available
