Relief Society: Visiting Teaching Blessings

Today I had a great visiting teaching visit. I woke up late this morning only to realize I had a doctor's appointment that I had forgotten about. So I hurried and got the kids dressed and headed out the door. Since we were late I left the breakfast dished on the table. My living room was still a little messy from family home evening, so I figured I would clean it when I got home. After the appointment I went and ran some errands and did some grocery shopping.

I arrived home to see my visiting teacher sitting in front of my house. I had forgotten again! Well she was so sweet. She helped me carry in my groceries, and then she picked up my living room, while I put away the groceries. She held my fussy baby while I got lunch for the other two. The entire time she went out of her way to help me feel comfortable and relaxed.

By the time her companion arrived, my house was mostly presentable, and I was able to relax and enjoy the visit. I am grateful for all that my visiting teachers do for me. I never feel as though they are judging my messy house (I forget about appointments more than I remember them). I know that they are there to help me whenever I need it.

On the other side of the picture, I am very grateful for the sisters I visit teach. They also go out of their way to make me comfortable in their home. They seem to enjoy the fact that I bring my children with me. I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to learn from these sisters as well.

The visiting teaching program really is a blessing. It gives us an opportunity to serve and help each other. We all have something to learn from each person that we visit with. What good experiences have you had with visiting teaching?
