Have you ever had one of those days when you wanted to lock yourself in a room and just have everyone leave you alone? Or maybe you just wanted to get out and leave the kids behind. It is important to take time as mothers to rejuvenate. A lot of times women in the church feel a pressure to feel perfect or they may feel guilty when they feel the need to be alone or to spend time taking care of themselves. It can be difficult to balance your needs with the needs of your family.

There is a lot of emphasis put on the divine role that women have in the home. This role is to nurture and care for your family. This can be difficult to do if you are a stay at home mother and even more difficult if you have to work to help support your family as well. It is important to realize that we are not expected to do everything for our families alone. For example we can divide up the household chores between family members and then work together to take care of the running the household.

Additionally your husband should play an active role in leading the family in scripture study, family prayer and family home evening. This can be helpful when you already feel stretched to get everything done during the day. Additionally you may work with your husband to divide responsibilities. One couple I know takes turns doing the dishes or putting the kids to bed. This helps the necessary activities get done, while giving support and relief to each other.

Finally you should take time each day to rejuvenate yourself through scripture study and meditation. Additionally you should be able to find time to do activities that help to keep you balanced. This is a balancing act, and you should be able to find the right amount of time for your family.
