LDS Week in Review – July 7th-12th

Welcome to our Week in Review! If you didn’t have the chance to join us every day here in LDS, here’s your opportunity to get caught up. We started off the week with “Dinner Discussions,” which helps keep us on track with our lessons. Then we had a review of Dallin H. Oaks’ conference talk on “Testimony.” Is your teen trying to decide whether or not to add seminary to his schedule? “Choose to Attend Seminary” will help him see that the blessings will be great if he’ll take that extra time to study the gospel more deeply. We continued … Continue reading

Dinner Discussions 2008 Week 22

This week’s dinner discussions are based on lesson twenty-two in the manual for the youth and adults. The Primary lessons are a week behind and based on lesson twenty-one. You can extend your dinner discussions to talk more extensively about your family home evening lesson or to plan for the summer trips. If you have a child in Nursery or Sunbeams he learned about feelings the lesson focused on the ways that people feel in different situations. It also talked about the appropriate way to show and express those feelings. The lesson reviewed the story of the Prodigal son with … Continue reading

LDS Week in Review – March 3rd-8th

Welcome to our Week in Review, where we summarize the week’s blogs and help keep you on top of all the latest doings here in LDS. We started the week with a look at “Preach My Gospel,” a learning aid that is given to missionaries entering the field, and that we as members also have access to. We can be missionaries wherever we are, and this piece of curriculum can help prepare us for that. Miriam spoke of the power the Gospel has to help us make and keep friendships throughout our lives, and also of the March 2008 Sharing … Continue reading

LDS Week in Review: December 31st-January 5th

Did the New Year keep you from joining us here on Families.com? If so, we can catch you up to speed. Miriam finished up the year’s Dinner Discussions, and Tristi continued the Gospel Questions series with the Word of Wisdom. We took another look at the lessons of Spencer W. Kimball in “The Sabbath: A Delight,” which taught us that as we learn to keep the Sabbath day holy, we demonstrate to God the depth of our willingness to be obedient. In “Fishers of Men: What Are Our Nets?” we discussed the way we try to share the gospel with … Continue reading

Primary Time: 2008 Theme

The new 2008 theme for Primary Sharing time has been announced. The overlying theme is “I Am a Child of God.” This is a wonderful thing to teach your children. It is one of the most important things that children can learn. Once they realize that Heavenly Father is real and loves them, their entire outlook on life will change. It is important to help your children to realize that Heavenly Father is watching over their lives. The scripture for the theme is Psalm 82:6: “All of you are children of the most High.” You can help your children to … Continue reading

The sharing time theme for September is “My faith in Jesus Christ grows when I serve others.” The scripture is Mosiah 2:17: “When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.” Since the Sacrament Program is coming up there is not a specific song that the children will learn this month. You should take the time to review all of the songs with your children. The theme is broken down into four separate points. The children will learn that Jesus taught that we should serve others. They will learn that … Continue reading
