Primary Time: Saying Thank You

One important thing that we need to do as parents is to thank the people who serve so willingly in Primary. Often we only think of thanking our children's teachers, when there really are so many that serve in the Primary. A simple note or a homemade card and a plate of brownies would go a long way in brightening these workers lives.

You should consider the immense work and effort that the Primary presidency completes each week. They handle calling the teachers, making sure every class has a teacher each week. They set up Primary each week, conduct, and teach Sharing Time. In addition they plan quarterly activities and plan the Sacrament program for the year. They are often overlooked since they have little interaction with you as parents.

The Primary chorister and pianist are often overlooked as well. This calling is very important as well. The chorister can really make a difference in how well your children learn songs that teach basic gospel principles and that they will carry with them the rest of their lives. Additionally it is a lot easier to learn those songs when accompanied by a pianist. I have lived in wards without a pianist and the children do have a harder time trying to learn the songs.

Additionally you should thank the Achievement Day and Cub Scout leaders. Both of these callings take considerable time and effort. It is difficult to plan activities that hold all of the children's interest. They take time away from their homes and families to serve you in the Primary.

As the holiday season approaches think of a simple way to say thank you for all the hard work that people in your ward do in the Primary. You may consider thinking about the Young Women and Young Men leaders as well. A simple note, card, email or phone call can make a world of difference in their lives.
