Primary Time: July Theme "My Family Can Follow Jesus Christ in Faith"by Miriam Caldwell | More from this Blogger 03 Jul 2007 05:50 PM The Sharing Time theme for July is "My family can follow Jesus Christ in faith." The scripture is taken from the family proclamation: "Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ." The theme focuses on learning about righteous families from the scriptures. It also points out that you can learn from the example of the first member of your family to join the church. The theme also focuses on the importance of honoring your parents. Finally the theme emphasizes the importance of family home evening, scripture study and prayer. The Friend has some really great ideas for incorporating the theme as well. The sharing time page has a great activity where your children can create a family tree. This helps to teach your children about families being connected forever. You may also want take the time to share the story of how your family learned about the church. This theme fits well with the celebration of Pioneer Day this month. There is also a coloring page that your children can complete about the theme. You may want to talk to your children about the importance of being a family. You can review The Family: A Proclamation to the World as part of family home evening. You can also take the time to look at ways to improve your family home evening, scripture study and family prayer. The summer is a good time to start these habits so that they will be easier to continue once school starts. The song for this month is "Love Is Spoken Here" p 190-91 in the Children's Songbook. This is one of my favorite primary songs. You can work on this song during family home evening each week. You may also want to work on other songs that your children are learning in Primary. The Primary program is not that far away.
