Caregiver Fatigue

We all know that being a mother is one of the hardest jobs out there. Facing it alone is even harder. You may find yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted. According to WebMD caregiver fatigue is “a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion. Burnout can occur when caregivers don’t get the help they need, or if they try to do more than they are able. Caregivers are often so busy caring for others that the tend … Continue reading

Our Children Are Watching Our Choices

What do we teach our children when we watch television together? What do we teach our children when we eat dinner together? What do we teach our children with the types of food we choose to have in our house or by the way we spend our free time? It is important to realize that our children scrutinize our every action. They notice what we eat, what we drink, when we exercise and what we value the most. They know how we spend our time and whether or not we study the scriptures on a regular basis. They know the … Continue reading

The Perils of Pornography – Part Two

Today I’m discussing the two types of pornography addicts we typically see in the Church, those who know it’s a sin and are trying to overcome it, and those who don’t see the harm in it. Balancing Your Needs and Your Family’s Needs

One of the most difficult things to do is to find time to balance self care with care of others. This is a topic I often consider because it is one that I struggle with. Where do I draw the line and what do I choose to do when I take care of myself? Everyone’s response to these questions will be different. One of the reasons is that we all relax in different ways, and because we have different demands that face us. Personally the most important thing I can do is to work on my spirituality. If I am … Continue reading

Health and Spirituality

How does having the spirit with you affect your health, and how does your health affect your ability to feel the spirit? In a Sunday school class I recently received a list of things that indicate whether or not you are feeling the spirit. I have edited the list to be slightly shorter than the original. This list is by Elder Marvin J Ashton. It reads: When you have the Spirit You feel in control, you don’t over-eat or over-sleep; you don’t feel uncontrollable passions or desires or lose your temper. You don’t feel uncontrollably drawn to sensational entertainment. You … Continue reading

We learn about the Word of Wisdom and also a little bit about hypocrisy. We got caught up to speed with our lessons in this week’s “Dinner Discussions,” and then Tristi answered another question from her non-member friend in, … Continue reading
