O Blessed Womanby Candace Salima | More from this Blogger 10 Apr 2006 07:48 AM As the brethren have stated, "Women, in partnership with God bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man" (Moses 1:39), ushering children into the world in a rush of excruciating pain, happiness and overwhelming love. In partnership with their husbands, they do their part in the plan of salvation by giving birth to, raising, nurturing and teaching these children, to simply raise them up unto God. Without faithful women of God, children will be tossed to and fro by the winds of change as the world inundates families with a barrage of attractively wrapped danger. "To you women, I wish to issue a challenge tonight. That challenge is to rise to the stature of the divine within you. As you have been reminded, yours is a godly inheritance. "I am a child of God" is not an idle or meaningless statement. You were there "when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons [and daughters] of God shouted for joy." (Job 38:7.) You brought some of that inheritance with you when you came "trailing clouds of glory ... from God who is our home." (William Wordsworth, "Ode: Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood," st. 5.) You were there when "there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon . . ." President Gordon B. Hinckley, "Rise to the Stature of the Divine Nature Within You", Ensign, Nov 1998, p. 4 Live up to your divine nature, sisters. Understand that you work in partnership with God and, He never intended for you to walk the path of motherhood alone. "Yes, there are adversities to be overcome, not a few of them. There are trials to be endured. There is much of evil in the world and too much of harshness, even in the home. Do what you can to rise above all of this. Stand up. Speak out against evil and brutality. Safeguard against abuse. Keep out of your homes the filthiness of the world, which can lead to such abuse. Rise up in the stature of your divine inheritance. God bless you, you wonderful girls, you strong and able young women, you older women of faith and integrity, you mothers in Zion, I humbly pray in the name of Jesus Christ, amen." President Gordon B. Hinckley, "Rise to the Stature of the Divine Nature Within You", Ensign, Nov 1998, p. 4 In 1935, the First Presidency of the Church stated, "Motherhood is near to divinity. It is the highest, holiest service to be assumed by mankind. It places her who honors its holy calling and service next to the angels . . . The true spirit of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gives to woman the highest place of honor in human life." Messages of the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6 vols. (1965-75), 6:178. Stand tall in righteousness and understand that our Father in Heaven has trusted you to bring His children home. Learn more about Candace Salima ![]() Candace E.
