Now Is the Time to Prepare
by Miriam Caldwell | More from this Blogger
In Alma 34:32 it says "this life is the time to prepare to meet God." It is important that we do the things necessary so that we can return to our Heavenly Father. There are several areas in our life that we need to prepare so that we can face the trials that will come our way.
The first way that we can prepare is to build our testimony of the gospel. We can do this by attending church, reading the scriptures and praying daily. It is important that we help others and take the opportunity to bear our testimony. These things will help us to keep our focus in mind and help us to return to our Heavenly Father.
The second way that we need to prepare is to help prepare our families. We can do this by holding family home evening, having family prayer and scripture study. We need to prepare our children to face the challenges that life will bring. You would not send your child out into the world without her knowing how to care for her physical needs, it is important to prepare her spiritually as well.
The third way we need to prepare is to be prepared to care for our temporal needs. We have been counseled to get out of debt and to store a year's supply of food. It is important to begin to do this now. You can learn more about this by visiting the church's site proidentliving.org.
As we take the time to prepare in these areas we can have peace in our lives. These preparations will help us to meet the challenges that life can bring us. The future is uncertain for each of us. We do not know what is going to happen in our individual lives, by preparing in these ways we will have the strength necessary to do the things we need to return to live with our Heavenly Father when the time comes.
