This past Sunday in Primary, I became really frustrated. It seems that the past two weeks, the kids have been so irreverent. Obviously, this is something that every primary president probably has to deal with, but I was feeling so frustrated by it after primary that I spent a long time speaking to my counselors about what we can do to increase the reverence in primary. When you receive a new calling in the church, it is amazing to me the responsibility and inspiration that comes with it. I have been the young women president in the past and remember always thinking about those girls that I was responsible for. I can’t believe that another year has come for us to do a primary program. Last year, it was the first time I had ever written a primary program. But, this year, I am excited for the program, and can’t wait to see what the kids are going to do. We started by organizing all of our songs. This past Saturday, we had a great primary activity. I feel so lucky to get to live in UT and around so many unique and special church sites. One of which is the church history museum downtown. Last night, we had our stake primary leadership training meeting. We had a great meeting and I left feeling inspired to be a better primary president for the year ahead. I wanted to share a few things that I learned from that meeting. First, they asked us what was the ONE thing we wanted our kids to learn this year. So, our primary is very small as I’ve mentioned before. Every kid usually gets more than his or her fair share of chances to do the talk, scripture and prayers in primary. But, I noticed a trend in our ward. There was a small handful of kids that kept volunteering for the talk and scripture each week, but would come unprepared the following week.
