I recently learned about a great podcast for LDS women called MormonMomCast. A podcast is like a radio show that you can download and listen to whenever you want. (Here is a link to learn more about podcasts.) The podcast talks about the gospel and life in general. The three hosts are all LDS moms. I was really excited as I listened to this podcast. I really enjoyed listening to the comments that all three ladies made. I asked the host Whit Larson to do a little interview, and I'm posting it here today. You should check out the podcast. It is available at the website MormonMomCast.com.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I grew up in Arizona and was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a "Mormon." Although I grew up in the church my parents encouraged us to visit other churches and find out for ourselves the truth. I attended Baptist Bible school and went to Mass and even for awhile in my twenties taught Sunday School at the Catholic Church. I am married to my best friend (trite, but true) and we have a sixteen-year-old punk-rock, guitar playing, church avoiding son and a twelve-year-old, Beehive class president, straight A girl. They are both wonderful children with good hearts. Currently I serve in the Primary.
Please tell us a little bit about your co-hosts as well.
This show is definitely a family affair. My sister, Amy, lives in Heber with her spunky sarcastic husband and their five beautiful, talented, athletic children (they get it all from her side of the family of course). She and her daughter, Renee, are outnumbered by a bunch of rowdy boys. Amy serves in YW and is good at anything she does. She is the type of person you can depend on to do anything you ask and she is an amazing mother.
Julie is our cousin. She is married to a man who is just about to graduate from BYU in Statistics and they have two sweet children. She is a kind-hearted Mom and you can tell because I'm not sure I've ever known children who are more loving. Julie is a peacemaker and everyone who meets her enjoys her company.
You can learn a lot more about us through our podcasts - the good, the bad and the ugly.
Why did you decide to do a podcast for Mormon moms?
I have a background in broadcasting and internet design so a podcast just seemed an obvious "next step" for me. I love the whole process of doing a show. I can't think of anything I'd rather talk about than the gospel and being a Mom. It just seemed like the perfect fit. When Amy and Julie agreed to join me I was thrilled. This is the best hobby ever!!
What topics do you plan on covering?
We will cover topics ranging from movie reviews to gospel discussions to parenting ideas to household tips and tricks... anything and everything that interests us - in hopes that it will interest like-minded sisters.
What format is the show going to take each week?
Two weeks out of the month we will have a variety show type format with listener feedback, LDS news, a general discussion topic and lots of other "segments."
One week out of the month will be a book club and one month will be a talk from general conference, education week, general conference or some other talk that appeals to us and is available online so that we can send it out over our feed.
When are new shows available for download?
We hope to have our shows available by Monday afternoon - we'd shoot for Monday morning but then we'd have to do the editing on Sunday. I guess it's bad enough that we've already done some recording on Sunday - talking to each other doesn't feel much like work, but our goal is to record Saturday and have Stephen/Steve (he is my brother and adds music, sound effects, etc.) put it all together Monday morning.
Where and how can you receive this podcast?
I think that many people feel like in order to listen to a podcast you have to be technical. Thank Heavens that is not true! Those who are interested can simply go to our website at www.MormonMomCast.com. There you will find several options.
If you are not technical at all and don't have an mp3 player, simply click on the episode number (i.e., Ep: 001) and it will "stream" through your computer's speakers. On the right side of the page you will notice that there are buttons to click if you want to subscribe through iTunes (great for iPod owners) or through any other feed that you like (great for those with any other MP3 players).
Mostly, we are having a great time doing this - we all three love to talk and we all three love our families and we all three love the gospel. It's just a great time! We welcome feedback and look forward to know you!

Miriam is a SAHM mom of three children. She has a daughter who is five, a son who is two and a new baby boy. She loves being a parent and spending time with her children.
Be sure to check out the LDS Voices podcast, which "broadcasts" talks by general authorities, youth speakers, etc. and is updated every day. It's a nice way to spend your morning commute.
Thanks again for doing the interview, Miriam. I wanted to stop in and say that I ALSO listen to LDS Voices - and there's another good podcast out there by an LDS family. It is called the 6620 West Kidcast.
Anyhow, thanks again. We've had some good feedback because of your blog!
-Whit
I'm glad that it has helped you out. I really do enjoy your podcast. In fact, I'm about to go and listen to the new one. Thanks! I'll have to check out Kidcast as well.
