Utah’s Medicaid Program Pays People’s Medical Bills

The state of Utah has a Medicaid program that connects with several other state public health insurance programs. Their website reads: “The Utah Medicaid program pays medical bills for people”. The state has plenty of helpful programs connected through Medicaid, or separate from it. Here is some information about how to qualify for Medicaid in Utah. Medicaid is a public, or government run, form of health insurance. Typically, the funding comes from both the federal government and the state government. In Utah, Medicaid benefits are paid with both federal and state funds. Utah’s Medicaid program is jointly administered by the … Continue reading

Missionary Work in Utah

I have shared that I have made some friends recently who are not members of the church. This seems easy for me to do, lately. Sometimes, I feel like I’m surrounded by more non-members than I am members. But, like I’ve said before, I’ll take a friend no matter which way they come, LDS or not. My husband recently went to a stake priesthood leadership meeting. In that meeting, they were told that there are roughly 10,000 members of the church living in our stake. Of that 10,000 there are roughly 3,000 on the rolls, and only about 1,700 that … Continue reading

Raising a Family in Utah When You Swore You Never Would

I did not grow up in Utah. In fact, I am very proud of the fact that I am a southern girl from Texas. Although, many Utahns that I run in to these days don’t hear an accent anymore, and don’t even realize I’m not one of their own. I used to say all the time that I would never live in UT. I thought it was full of cookie cutter mormons that all think and act and do the same thing. That was until I moved to UT. My experience has only been living in Salt Lake City. So, … Continue reading

Seeking and Following the Spirit-Part I

When I think of times in my life where I have felt the Holy Ghost strongly, and knew that I was being guided, I cannot help but think of my mission. Before my mission, I had felt the Holy Ghost many times. Of course I had to have that confirmation from the Lord to even go on a mission. So, in some aspects, I knew what the Holy Ghost felt like. But, it wasn’t until I was a missionary that I really learned how to not only truly seek the Holy Ghost, but to recognize the promptings of it, and … Continue reading

Sharing the Gospel Can Be Simple

I know that I have a few mormon friends who are worried about making friends with non-LDS people because they are afraid that they will have nothing in common with them. I find that to be not true in my own experience. However, when you branch out, and become friends with someone who is not mormon, you will most likely find yourself answering questions about your faith. That is simply because we are different, and we stand out. Hopefully, for the right reasons. The truth is, that as Elder Holland said recently, we can never check our religion at the … Continue reading

Two LDS Missionaries Die While Serving

Living in Utah, we are fortunate to hear about LDS news that others across the country may not be able to hear about. However, there is a news story that surfaced this week that is so tragic and sad that I can’t stop thinking about it. Three LDS missionaries were biking in their area and were hit by a car. Two were killed, and one survived. The driver took off on foot immediately after the accident, and later surrendered. This all happened in Texas. You can read the news story here. We don’t often hear of missionaries dying on their … Continue reading

Author Interview – Anne Bradshaw

Today’s interview features Anne Bradshaw, LDS British novelist and the author of several magazine articles. She is joining us for an exclusive discussion about herself, her work, and her future projects. Anne, thank you for taking the time to meet with us. You have such a lovely accent; where are you from, originally, and how did you come to live here in the United States? I was born in Caernarvon, Wales as my parents moved there from London during the war. Three years later, we moved to Cheshire in Northern England. I grew up, attended school, and married there. My … Continue reading
