LDS Week in Review - May 19th - 24th

Did you miss some of our blogs here in LDS this week? Never fear-this summary will get you caught up to speed.

We began the week with a closer look at the fifth commandment, which tells us to honor our parents-they have sacrificed a lot for us and can also be good sources of counsel and advice for us, no matter what our age.

Keep on track with the lessons at church with this week's "Dinner Discussions," and in "Concern for the One," we read of Joseph B. Wirthlin's conference address which reminds us of the need to be there for those who have left the Church.

Sometimes it's hard to feel close to the Lord when we experience trials. "Recognizing the Hand of the Lord in Your Life" helps us remember that He is always there, even when we don't notice His presence.

We continue the Scripture Study Series with 1 Nephi 16:33-36, and we gain ideas on "Handling Difficult Classes" in our callings as Primary teachers.

Do you have items you are no longer using? You can organize a "Sharewear" project in your ward. Have ward members bring their gently used items to the church and trade them for things they will get more use from.

In our Gospel Questions series, we learn why we have the Doctrine and Covenants in addition to our other books of scripture. We also learn about "Receiving Your Call" in the Senior Missionaries series.

A "Ward Talent Show" can be a great activity to bring out those who otherwise might not participate, as well as being a whole lot of fun. And if you need some extra impetus to get you moving on your home teaching, don't miss "Beyond the Lessons," which reminds us of the true purpose behind this important calling.

We read about "Gifts of the Spirit" as taught to us by the Prophet Joseph Smith in this year's manual, and we explored the sixth commandment, "Thou shalt not kill."

"He Knows My Name" reminds us that the Savior is truly our Good Shepherd, and that if we keep our ears tuned toward Him, we will hear Him when He calls us. "It's Not Conformity, It's Obedience" helps us keep the importance of the commandments in perspective-it really is okay to be like everyone else, if everyone else is being righteous.

The seventh commandment tells us not to commit adultery, and we conclude our week with "What If I Don't Like My Call?" which looks at some of the emotions senior missionaries may experience after reading the long-awaited letter.
