"Johnny Lingo" and "Cipher in the Snow"by Miriam Caldwell | More from this Blogger 29 Jun 2006 09:09 PM If you grew up in the church then you must have seen "Johnny Lingo" and "Cipher in the Snow." The standard joke about being an eight-cow wife can be inserted here. These classics are no longer being shared on a regular basis, and I was pleased when I received them as gift on DVD. The first DVD has four films on it. They are "Johnny Lingo," "The Mailbox," "Uncle Ben," and "Christmas Snows, Christmas Winds." These movies teach a moral as they share the story. It was great to sit down and watch "Johnny Lingo" again after all these years. The other films on this DVD teach lessons about forgiveness and compassion. The second DVD has four films on it. They are "Cipher in the Snow," "The Gift," "The Phone Call," "The Emmett Smith Story," and "John Baker's Last Race." "Cipher in the Snow" is such a sad movie that really makes you think about the way that you treat others. A great find for me was "The Phone Call." I had never seen it before and I thought it was absolutely hilarious. It is the story of a boy trying to get up the courage to call a girl he likes. My favorite DVD is the second one. I like the films on it more, but you need the first one simply to have the classic "Johnny Lingo." These have been great to have. We planned a movie night for a Young Men's and Young Women's combined activity. The movies were a big hit with the youth. We have also enjoyed just watching them. This would be a fun activity for a family home evening. Make sure that you pop plenty of popcorn, then sit back and enjoy the shows. I highly recommend that you purchase "Johnny Lingo" and "Cipher in the Snow." Learn more about Miriam Caldwell ![]() Miriam is a SAHM mom of three children. I was horrified at the time, and have thought of young Cliff Evans many times since then. The thought that a young person could actually die from being considered a "nothing" is terribly haunting. I actually used the story in parenting my own children over the years, as a lesson in how to treat people, especially those who are less popular or less "cool". Thank you for writing about this :) Community Tags http://healthinsuranceplans.t35., http://healthinsurance.100webspa, http://enterprise-car-rental.100, Johnny Lingo, lds, Mormon movies Discuss this article
