In Luke 12:13-21, Jesus gives the parable of the rich man who set aside plenty of food to last him for years, yet found himself standing before God that same night. With a new year many people make a resolution to exercise more and get their body in shape. But how about making a resolution to exercise your spiritual muscles more, to devote more time to prayer and to get your Christian life in shape? This week’s lesson for Relief Society and Elders Quorum comes from the Teachings of the Presidents of the Church, and is entitled ‘Provident Living: Applying Principles of Self-Reliance and Preparedness.’ As always, we begin the lesson by drawing from President Kimball’s life experiences before we start reading his quotes.
