General Conference: "The Things of Which I Know"by Miriam Caldwell | More from this Blogger 01 Oct 2007 05:14 AM In his talk "The Things of Which I Know" President Gordon B Hinckley bears his testimony of the gospel. He opens his talk by talking about his age and his health. He then goes on to speak about the Nicene Creed. He explains how the Nicene Creed came to be. He says that it is difficult to understand. President Hinckley bears his testimony about the gospel. He bears his testimony about the Prophet Joseph Smith and the restoration of the church. He points out that the First Vision teaches us that God really does answer prayers. He counsels us to pray and counsel with our Heavenly Father. President Hinckley bears his testimony of Jesus Christ and His Atonement. He bears testimony that Christ lives. He also speaks of the necessity of the Atonement, and how we are blessed because Christ was willing to come to earth to atone for our sins. President Hinckley then bears his testimony of several things that have come as a result of the restoration of the gospel. He speaks first of the restoration of the Priesthood and the blessings that it brings to earth. President Hinckley then goes on to speak on the restoration of the temples and the ordinances and promises that accompany them. President Hinckley ends his talk by blessing each of us. He then encourages us to have faith and prayer so that we can have lives full of peace and love. This is a very moving and powerful talk. While bearing his testimony President Hinckley also instructs us on the basic principles of the gospel. This is a great reminder of the things that we have that we should be grateful for. It encourages us to strengthen our own testimonies and understanding of the gospel. I hope that you will take the time to read this wonderful talk.
