In his talk "Salvation and Exaltation" Elder Russell M Nelson begins his talk by welcoming Elder D. Todd Christofferson to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He also expresses his support of the new First Presidency of the church. He explains that sustaining the First Presidency is an important part of the gospel.

Elder Nelson speaks about the third Article of Faith. He points out that all mankind can be saved, but that to be saved you must be saved from both spiritual and physical death. Everyone will be resurrected as a result of Christ's resurrection, but that each person must choose to be saved spiritually by following the commandments of Christ. This is only possible through the Atonement of Christ.

Elder Nelson speaks about the important role that a family plays in teaching the children about the gospel and exaltation. He stresses that the family is under attack, and that without families society will fail. Elder Nelson goes on to explain that families can last eternally through the Plan of Salvation. An important part of this is the blessing of temple marriage. We should focus our families on the importance of receiving the blessings of the temple.

Elder Nelson speaks of the importance of raising our children in the gospel. He says that it is the only calling we are not released from. He speaks of the importance of teaching the gospel to our children. He stresses that the gospel should be taught with kindness and that we cannot force our children to live the gospel, we need to persuade them to.

Elder Nelson concludes his talk by speaking about the importance of doing family history work and helping our ancestors receive the opportunity to receive the gospel. It is important we work to connect the generations of our family through the gospel. The temple is key in completing this work.

This is a wonderful talk. Elder Nelson spends a great deal of time talking about the responsibility that parents have in teaching their children the gospel. Families are very important in helping children grow up and learn the truth and correct behavior. I hope that you take the time to read this wonderful talk.
