Five Tips to Make Seminary Easierby Miriam Caldwell | More from this Blogger 17 Aug 2006 08:54 PM Since school is fast approaching that means the start of seminary. For those of you who live outside of Utah, this mean early morning seminary. It is a wonderful experience for everyone involved, but the early mornings can be difficult for both the students and the parents who drive those students. Here are some easy tips to make those early mornings go a bit smoother. 1) Prepare everything the night before and go to bed early. If your teenagers are having a hard time going to sleep early, especially at the beginning, just make sure that they begin to calm down and unwind at a reasonable hour. They will quickly adjust to the schedule. 2) The whole family needs to be supportive of the seminary program. This means that parents are supportive and up to say good bye and that younger children are considerate of the needs of the seminary students. 3) If you need to drive your children to seminary each morning make the most of the hour you spend waiting at the church. I've known people who use this time to study the gospel. I know of mothers who have set up aerobic groups in the gym and taken advantage of this time to exercise. I know one parent who taught himself to play the piano during the hour he spent at the church each morning. 4) You can prepare or buy breakfasts that can be eaten on the road to help your children cut time from the early morning schedule. This will help make sure they are getting the food that they need. 5) If possible set up a carpool with nearby parents in order to help your energy level. I recommend still getting up with your children to wish them a good day. Seminary is a great program, which will help your children to grow spiritually. It also builds a lot of character for your children to get up each morning to go. It is worth both your time and theirs. Learn more about Miriam Caldwell ![]() Miriam is a SAHM mom of three children.
