Dinner Discussions Week 41

This week's dinner discussions are based on Lesson 41. You may need to adjust your lesson according to the schedule for your ward. It is important to keep these discussions upbeat and positive. It is simply a chance to reinforce what your children have learned in class and to encourage your children to ask further questions.

If you have a child who is in Nursery or Sunbeams he learned about the scriptures. They discussed the fact that the scriptures are from Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. They talked about how the scriptures are sacred and special. They also discussed that the scriptures teach about Jesus Christ.

If you have a child between the ages of four and seven, she learned that Jesus Christ is our Savior. The children discussed the importance of the Atonement. They also discussed how Jesus was resurrected, and the different people that he appeared to after he was resurrected.

If you have a child between the ages of eight and eleven, he learned about Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They learned how these three men were thrown into the burning furnace, because they refused to worship false idols. They also discuss the importance of remaining valiant when they are faced with trials and problems. The assigned reading is Daniel 3.

If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen she learned about eternal marriage. They discussed the difference between eternal marriage and civil marriage. They also talked about the importance of eternal marriage when it comes to exaltation. They discussed the qualities that are needed to achieve an eternal marriage. They also discussed the importance of preparing for one now.

For all members over the age of fourteen the lesson was based on the writings of Jeremiah. The lesson talked about the great adversity that Jeremiah faced throughout his life, as he testified to the Israelites of their wickedness. Even though Jeremiah was persecuted he stayed true to the Lord. It is important to follow Jeremiah's examples.

This week the Young Women learned about the ability to succeed. They discussed how their self-image affects their attitude and ability to succeed, and talked about ways to improve their self-image. The Young Men talked about sexual purity. It was a fifth Sunday, so the topic was chosen by the bishop for the Relief Society and Priesthood classes.
