Dinner Discussions 2008 Week 27by Miriam Caldwell | More from this Blogger 22 Jul 2008 11:30 PM This week's dinner discussions are based on lesson twenty seven in the manuals. The Primary lessons are one week behind due to the Easter lesson. This week is Pioneer day, and you may want to share some family pioneer stories, or talk about the example that the pioneers set for us. If you have a child in nursery or Sunbeams he learned that families can be together forever. The lesson talked about the temple, and the blessings that happen when your family is sealed together. The children learned that the temple is a sacred place, and the importance of living worthily to enter the temple. You may want to take your children to visit the temple grounds this week. If you have a child between the ages of four and seven she learned the importance of choosing the right. The lesson shared the story of the Prodigal son and how he eventually chose to come back and live the right way. The lesson also talked about how repentance can help us to fix our wrong choices. If you have a child between the ages of eight and eleven she learned about Captain Moroni and the title of liberty. The children learned about the importance of fighting for their freedom and their right to worship God. The children were encouraged to memorize the twelfth Article of Faith. The assigned reading is Alma48:11-13, and 17-18. If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen he learned about the importance of resisting world influences. The lesson discussed peer pressure and the ways to deal with it. It also discussed how the worldly influences can have a negative effect on your life. It talked about the blessings that come from resisting these influences. For all members over the age of fourteen the Sunday school lesson was based on Alma 30 and 31. The lesson focused on the false preaching of Korihor. It also shared Alma's talking with Korihor and sharing his testimony of Christ. When Korihor continues to deny Christ he is struck dumb. Finally the lesson begins to talk about Alma's mission to visit the Zoramites. Next week's reading assignment is Alma 32-35. The young women learned about forgiving ourselves. The young men learned that the body is a temple. The Priesthood and Relief Society lesson was about death, and finding peace. It was based on lesson fourteen in the Joseph Smith manual. Next week's lesson is based on talks from General Conference. Contact your local leaders to learn your reading assignment.
