Dinner Discussions 2008 Week 23

This week's dinner discussions are based on lesson twenty-two for the Primary lessons. All of the other lessons are a week ahead and are based on lesson twenty-three. The fourth of July is coming up and if you live in the U.S. you may want to talk a little bit about that. You can also review the First Presidency message with your children.

If you have a child in Nursery or Sunbeams he learned that he could do many things. The children talked about all the things that they have learned to do since they were babies. They talked about things like jumping and feeding themselves. The learned the story of David and Goliath. This story taught them they can do anything with the Lord's help. You may want to review these concepts with your children.

If you have a child between the ages of four and seven she learned about being a peacemaker. The children talked about things that they can do to be peacemakers in their homes. They role played situations and discussed how to be a peacemaker in each situation.

If you have a child between the ages of eight and eleven he learned about faith in Alma 32 and 33. The lesson focused on the things that help testimonies grow. The children learned the importance of reading the scriptures and prayer. The assigned reading is Alma 32:21-22, 26-28, 40-43 and Alma 33:14-23.

If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen she learned about the importance of obeying God and the commandments. The lesson talked about the importance of obeying the counsel of God and His prophets. It also talked about obeying the commandments. It talked about the blessings that come as a result of obedience.

For all members over the age of fourteen the Sunday school lesson was based on Alma 8-12. The lesson shares the teachings of Alma and Amulek to the people of Ammonihah. The lesson points out that there were two witnesses to the teachings. The teachings focused on accepting Christ and the dangers of hard heartedness. Next week's reading is Alma 13-16

The young women learned about overcoming opposition. The young men learned about preparing for the Melchizedek priesthood. The Priesthood and Relief Society lessons were based on General Conference talks. Next week's lessons will be determined by your local ward leaders.
