Dinner Discussions 2008 Week 22by Miriam Caldwell | More from this Blogger 16 Jun 2008 12:29 PM This week's dinner discussions are based on lesson twenty-two in the manual for the youth and adults. The Primary lessons are a week behind and based on lesson twenty-one. You can extend your dinner discussions to talk more extensively about your family home evening lesson or to plan for the summer trips. If you have a child in Nursery or Sunbeams he learned about feelings the lesson focused on the ways that people feel in different situations. It also talked about the appropriate way to show and express those feelings. The lesson reviewed the story of the Prodigal son with the children and talked about the feelings of the brother and the father on the boy's return. You may want to discuss feelings with your children this week. If you have a child between the ages of four and seven she learned about reverence. The lesson used the stories of Jesus blessing the Nephite children and Jesus being born to show how reverence should feel. They talked about how reverence is a form of love and a way to show love and respect. They discussed how they should behave when they are reverent. If you have a child between the ages of eight and eleven he learned about the Zoramites and the Rameumptom. The lesson focused on pride and how people can show pride. It also talked about overcoming pride. The assigned reading is Alma 31:8-25 and Alma 34:17-29. If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen she learned about the importance of trying to be perfect. The lesson talked about how Jesus Christ was perfect, and that we each need to try to live our lives like His. We should constantly try to improve ourselves, while recognizing that it is through His help and Atonement that we can repent of our mistakes and continue to try. For all members over the age of fourteen the Sunday school lesson was based on Alma 5-7. The lesson mainly focused on the change of heart that comes when we focus on Christ. It talked about the need to continue to strengthen our testimonies and commit ourselves to following the Savior and living the gospel. Next week's reading assignment is Alma 8-12. The young women learned about having an eternal perspective in life. The young men learned about the duties of priests. The Priesthood and Relief Society lessons were based on lesson 12 in the Joseph Smith manual. It focused on sharing the gospel. Next week's lessons are based on talks from General Conference and will vary from ward to ward. Check with your local leaders to find out what to prepare for.
