This week's dinner discussions are based on lesson 44 in the manuals. The Junior Primary and Nursery classes are a week behind. You may want to incorporate the importance of giving and helping others as well as the true meaning of Christmas into your discussion. You can also create a good deed jar that you contribute to each day. You can each write down one nice thing you did for somebody each day and put it in the jar.

If you have a child in Nursery he learned that we have a prophet on the earth today. He learned the story of the boy Samuel being called to be prophet by God. He learned that President Hinckley is the prophet today. He also learned that we are blessed when we follow the prophet, he learned about Noah, Moses and Joseph Smith to illustrate this point.

If you have a child who is between the ages of four and seven she learned about honoring the name of Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. The children learned that taking the Lord's name in vain was wrong. They also learned the importance of keeping the commandments.

If you have a child between the ages of eight and eleven he learned about Paul and his missionary work. The class discussed the way that the Lord protected Paul until he completed his mission. The children were also encouraged to prepare for their missions. The assigned reading is Acts 23:10-24, and 31-33.

If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen, she learned about President Gordon B Hinckley and his life. The lesson focused on nine separate incidents in President Hinckley's life. You may want to ask your child to share one of them with the family. You may also want to discuss some of the virtues that President Hinckley encourages us to develop.

For all members over the age of fourteen the lesson was based on 1 John, 2 John, and 3 John. The lesson focused on love. First we learned about Heavenly Father's love for us. Then we learned about the Savior's love for us. Finally the lesson discussed ways that we can show our love to the Savior. Next week's reading is Revelations 1-3 and 12.

The young women learned about developing their talents. The young men learned about preparing for temple marriage. The Priesthood and Relief Society lesson topics were determined by individual presidencies. Next week's lesson will be on lesson 23, "Shepherds of the Flock," in the Spencer W. Kimball manual.
