Dinner Discussions 2007 Week 40

This week's dinner discussions are based on lesson forty in your manuals. The Junior Primary is a week behind. You may want to begin focusing on things to be grateful in your dinner discussions as well. Remember to keep the discussions positive and upbeat.

If you have a child in nursery, he learned about music. The lesson shared the story of the David playing music for King Saul, the Jaredites singing music in the barges, and the pioneers singing music on the exodus west. The children sang songs together. You may wan to focus on music at home this week.

If you have a child between the ages of four and seven she learned about showing love for their parents. The children learned about Adam and Eve being the first parents and the responsibility that each parent has for his children. The lesson talked about honoring parents and being obedient. The lesson also used Moroni fulfilling his father's wishes as an example.

If you have a child between the ages of eight and eleven he learned about Peter and Cornelius. The lesson focused on Peter taking the gospel to the Gentiles as well as the Jews. The lesson also talked about modern day missionary work. The assigned reading Acts 10:36-43 and Acts 11:15-18.

If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen she learned about President Ezra Taft Benson. The lesson focused on the importance of sacrifice in our lives. It shared examples from President Benson life. It also talked about how the Lord will help us when we need it.

For all members age fourteen and older the Sunday school lesson was based on Philippians, Colossians and Philemon. The lesson focused on following Christ and what the elect of God should do. It also focused on the importance of forgiveness and that it is only through Christ that redemption is possible. Next week's lesson is 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus.

The young women learned about self-mastery. The young men learned about avoiding and overcoming temptation. The Priesthood and Relief Society lesson was based on conference talks, but your local leaders determined the topic. Next week's lesson will be determined by your local leaders as well.
