Dinner Discussions 2007 Week 52

This last week was an interesting one, since all of the manuals had finished up. This means that the teachers chose the lesson topic. Additionally it was a fifth Sunday so each bishop chose the lesson for the Relief Society Priesthood lessons. You may simply want to talk to your family and ask them what their lessons were about. This week’s dinner discussions are based on lesson 44 in the manuals. The Junior Primary and Nursery classes are a week behind. You may want to incorporate the importance of giving and helping others as well as the true meaning of Christmas into your discussion. You can also create a good deed jar that you contribute to each day. You can each write down one nice thing you did for somebody each day and put it in the jar. Primary Time: November 2007 Sharing Time Theme

The Sharing Time theme for November is “My faith in Jesus Christ blesses my life. I am thankful for my many blessings.” The scripture is Doctrine and Covenants 59:7: “Thou shalt thank the Lord thy God in all things.” There is no specific song to teach this month, though you may want to work on Christmas carols as a family. The hymn “Because I Have Been Given Much” p 219 would be a good selection as well. The theme is broken down into four weekly principles. This week’s dinner discussions are based on lesson forty in your manuals. The Junior Primary is a week behind. You may want to begin focusing on things to be grateful in your dinner discussions as well. Remember to keep the discussions positive and upbeat. The lesson shared the story of the David playing music for King Saul, the Jaredites singing music in the barges, and the pioneers singing music on the exodus west. The children sang songs together. This week’s dinner discussions are based on lesson thirty for those who are older than eight. Junior Primary and Nursery’s discussions are based on lesson twenty-nine. You may also want to discuss the sharing time theme with your children. This month it focuses on recognize the promptings of the Holy Ghost. If you have a child in Nursery or Sunbeams he learned about saying he was sorry.
