Children's Section at Temple Square

On a recent trip to Temple Square I was pleased to visit the children's section in the Museum of Church History and Art. The section is put together well and features activities especially for the children to do. This is a great place to visit if you are already headed to Temple Square. Personally I would start with the more spiritual places and end with the trip to the children's section.

The children's display is on the second floor of the museum towards the back. You may need to ask for directions to find it. The entire museum is worth looking at, and the display about church history is a great one for your children to see. Once you have reached the second floor you will find the art gallery and the children's museum.

The children's section has an area to watch videos and read books about different gospel principles. There is also a section that allows the children to play in a hospital nursery. This is a great area for the children and it talks a bit about the humanitarian work that the church has done.

In the back of the section there are several different activities for the children to do as well. They can dress up and pose in a nativity scene that is there. The dress up clothes are very authentic. Additionally there are blocks to build a temple, and a place to color stained glass windows for the temple. On the wall they can complete a stained glass temple window as well. The children can complete rubbings of CTR symbols in the different languages. There is also a section about the Lehi's vision.

This entire section could easily entertain your children for at least two hours, and may be worth visiting more than one time, since exhibits may change. I think it is a great addition to all of the other activities and tours already available at Temple Square. If you have been there, what do you think?
