Senior Missionary Series: Putting in Your Papers

It used to be that mission papers were filled out by hand, but not so any more. With the progression of technology, you now apply for your mission online. Your bishop will give you the website address, and he will go in and authorize you to be a user on that site.

One additional piece to the puzzle in deciding to serve a mission is figuring out what to do with your home while you're away. You'll be gone for a year to eighteen months or so, depending on the type of mission you choose to serve, and your house will need proper care while you are away.

After talking things over with your bishop and stake president, you'll want to schedule your doctor visits. The Church needs to make sure you've been given a clean bill of health before sending you out in the field. Your dentist - you'll need to make an appointment to see your dentist.

The Missionary Training Center recently announced the one millionth missionary to go forth since the formation of the Church. What a remarkable accomplishment. How wonderful to think of all those elders and sisters dedicating a portion of their time to share the gospel.

Something very exciting is happening today. My mom is flying to England to serve a full-time mission for the Church. She's a widow, so she'll be teamed with another sister, and together they will seek out those who might be looking for the gospel.

Fishers of Men: What Are Our Nets?

When Jesus sought out His disciples, He told the men who had previously been working as fishermen that He would make them fishers of men, meaning that He would teach them how to gather men into His fold. We have also been asked to be fishers of men in our own time and in our own lands.

Remember the Missionaries at Christmas

Christmas can be a difficult time when you are away from family. It is important to remember the missionaries in your Christmas celebrations. If you have missionaries out in the field, you should remember to send them a card and possibly a package.
