LDS Movie Review: The Singles 2nd Ward (2008)

We all remember the gang from "The Singles Ward" - Jonathan, Cammie, DeVerl, Hyrum, Eldon, Dallen? Well, some years have gone by and Halestorm decided to make another film about our anxious to get married friends, but now Dallen is the only one who isn't married.

When I first heard that the movie "Turn Around" had been released, I was pretty excited. Jordan Sorenson, the star, lived in my ward for a while and I wanted to see how he did in the film. He did a good job. I'm sorry to say, he's the only one who did.

"Anxiously Engaged," also known as "Piccadilly Cowboy," for some reason, is one of the newest additions to the genre of LDS film. The story revolved around Carson Wells (Jaelin Petrie), a young man from Montana who now lives and works in London for a beef magnate.

CES Firesides

CES firesides are starting back up again since it is fall. The first one scheduled is on September 9, 2007. These firesides are for young adults. The speakers are selected from the leaders of the church. Sister Cheryl C Lant, who is the general Primary President, will be the speaker in September.

BYU 2007 Education Week

As many of you may know this week was Education Week at BYU. This is a time when BYU hosts many workshops and inspirational speakers. The classes go all day long, all week long and cover many different aspects of life. People from all over the world attend this activity each year.

One aspect of Mormon culture is creative dating. This phenomenon takes place mostly in Utah and other states with a higher percentage of LDS people. It affects high school students and college freshman. Creative dating is really fun way to have relaxed fun dates without a lot of pressure.

A new two-part documentary "The Mormons: A Documentary" is scheduled to air on Monday April 30, 2007 and Tuesday May 1, 2007 on PBS. You can check your local listings for the time in your area. This documentary takes a look at the history of the LDS church, and how the church is operating today.

Do You BYU - Online?

Years ago, my husband and I made the switch from cable to satellite for two reasons. One of them - the primary one for my husband - was the BYU channel. Some time has passed, our lives have changed, we've moved, and satellite is not accessible to us.
