Blessings and Trials

The talks from the last Relief Society session of conference were really amazing. The theme "Encircled in the Arms of His Love" really struck home with me. Each of the sisters who spoke shared a time in her life when she felt that love, and could feel the arms of the Savior around her, helping her. They spoke of the importance of remembering that feeling.

It has been a difficult month for me. It is going to be difficult for awhile. And I know that the Lord is there helping me through my experience. I know because I remember Him being there for me in my darkest moments when I was younger. It is so comforting to have that memory of His unconditional love for me. It really has been my mainstay over the years. And I really need it now.

This last month I had my third child. Anyone with three can tell you this is a big adjustment. A week after I had my baby, I was referred to a specialist because my two-year-old has stopped growing. We have him on a special diet, and because of everything else going on in his life, his eating habits have changed as well. Until we know what is causing this we have many more doctor visits, tests and possible hospitalization looming over us. In the grand spectrum I know that there are worse things we could be going through, but I am still at a point where I am taking it day by day.

I know that the Lord is watching over me. I can feel his love with the concerned phone calls I get from my family members, the offers of babysitting I have from my friends, the dinners that have been brought in and the prayers on my family's behalf. I know that the Lord is watching out for my family and for me. It is a wonderful thing to have that knowledge as I go through this difficult time.

I am so grateful for the gospel and the peace it brings to me as I face the challenges of this life. I am grateful for my Savior who made it possible to return to live with my Heavenly Father. I am grateful for the chance I have to be here at this time and to be a mother to three wonderful children. I truly am blessed, and I am grateful that I am able to see my blessings at this time.
