Are You a Good Visiting Teachee?

The Relief Society has instituted the wonderful program of visiting teaching to help the sisters in the ward. Usually when you read about visiting teaching, you read about ways to become a better visiting teacher, but have you ever thought about how to become a better visiting teachee?
There is one sister who I visit who I absolutely love to visit. She has a large family with children several years older than mine. Each time I visit I feel that she imparts knowledge to me about to help my children and how I can be a better mother. She does this as she simply shares stories in her life. She is open and willing to have us come and visit.
Do you allow your sisters to come and visit you? Do you return the phone calls when they try to schedule an appointment? Do you really talk to your visiting teachers when they come, or does the conversation never delve too deeply into your personal life?
I have always been open to my visiting teachers visiting. In fact I really enjoy having the two sisters I currently have come over, but I have a hard time letting people into my personal struggles and trials. I have always been an extremely private person, and many people feel that it is hard to really get to know me. Recently though I did share a trial with my visiting teachers and they offered good advice and comfort. As I did this I realized that I needed to be more open about my daily challenges.
Visiting teaching is designed to bless everyone involved. I have learned something from each of the sisters I have visited. I have grown spiritually as I have completed the teachings. I am grateful for the sisters that have allowed me to visit and reach out to them. Visiting teaching is a wonderful program.
