The High Cost of School and Activity Fees

This year, our school district is charging activity fees for its students. This means that if any students want to participate in after school sports or other activities, they must first pay a fee. The amount of the fee depends on the child’s level in school. So, an elementary student who wants to participate in a school activity must pay $25, a middle school student must pay $50, and a high school student must pay $75 per year. Granted, these aren’t astronomical fees, and this particular fee gives a free pass to all activities, but they aren’t the only fees … Continue reading

Priceless Christmas Gifts for Parents

I smile every time I see the sign that reads: “Unattended children will be given an espresso and a free puppy.” You can usually catch the tongue-in-cheek threat hanging in stores, doctors’ offices and auto repair shops. I love kids to pieces and I firmly believe a baby is one of the best gifts a person can receive during the holiday season… or any time of the year. However, the cute creatures aren’t problem-free. They enter the world following the shedding of blood, sweat and tears, and the work that goes into raising them doesn’t miraculously dwindle when they reach … Continue reading

Activity Days- Christmas Activity

This past week we did a Christmas Activity that my girls really loved! It was a little messy, but a lot of fun. I am in charge of our Ward Christmas Party this year, and as part of our party, we are going caroling in our neighborhood as a ward. We wanted something to hand out to the people that we carol to in order to reach out to the many non-members in our neighborhood. So, I thought of Christmas ornaments. Now, Christmas Ornaments are expensive. And, not very personal. So, my idea was to buy clear Christmas ornaments from … Continue reading

My Favorite Winter Activity

When the weather gets frigid, the babies and toddlers get antsy! It’s hard to play outside and get those wiggles out when the cold air stings your nose and numbs your toes. After being holed up in the house for a few days, everyone starts to get cabin fever! One of my favorite things to do when it gets cold outside is pack up the little man and drive to the mall. The mall is the perfect hang out spot for multiple reasons: 1. It’s a break for me. I can strap my son into the stroller and window shop. … Continue reading
