Do You Record General Conference?

For a few years now, we have recorded general conference. Usually it is because during the Saturday session we might be busy with other things, and always think we will come back to it. Well, this year, we were out of town during general conference, and did not get to hear much except for President Monson’s announcement about missionaries shortly before we lost radio coverage in the car. So, I have been really grateful that we recorded it this year. And, to make it even better, we are actually watching those recordings! My husband had the idea that we would … Continue reading

A Big Announcement- October General Conference

My husband and I were out of town all weekend, but some of our time was spent traveling in the car. We were discussing general conference and how we were sad that we were missing it, but we were recording it at home. He said to me, “It’s been a long time since there has been any sort of big announcement at General Conference“. Just then, we decided to see if we could find it on the radio to listen to and we hear President Monson speaking of the changes to missionary work. Apparently, for some time, on a case … Continue reading

My Favorite Conference Talk

It seems like whenever I listen to conference twice a year, and think about what I want to share on this blog, that I am always drawn to choose talks that are my “favorite” based on what I must need to learn or hear at the time. It is a blessing to me to have this avenue to re-read the conference talks and share my thoughts on them with whoever is reading. Maybe your favorite was not my favorite. It doesn’t really matter, because they are all inspired. But, I want to share a talk with you that was important … Continue reading

A Heart Happy General Conference Weekend

This past weekend was general conference, and it was a lovely weekend full of laziness and spiritual inspiration. I have a bad cold I’ve been battling for a few days, so I was thankful to be able to stay in my PJs and watch conference at home. I had some plans to do a lot of house work, but fortunately, I didn’t do any of it so that I could take it easy since I was sick. It was a blessing in disguise. I was more focused on the talks, and was able to soak up a lot of the … Continue reading

Stop It!

As usual, President Uchtdorf did not dissapoint with a talk that resonated with many members of the church. I know that it was a talk that I needed to hear, and probably a talk that most people could benefit from. It was titled, The Merciful Obtain Mercy. However, the title of this talk could also easily be, “Stop it!”. One thing I love about Elder Uchtdorf is that he speaks to members of the church in a candid way that is down to earth and pertinent to all of us today. His first counsel to all of us was to … Continue reading

Just What I Needed to Hear

I am amazed at how the Lord is continually watching over me. Why does it still amaze me? I’ve been a faithful LDS member for my whole life. I’ve seen His hand in my life over and over again. Yet, every time it happens, I am still amazed. This past weekend, I had a little meltdown. I had a moment where I was feeling discouraged. I was feeling like I was lacking so much. I felt like I would never measure up. I was feeling this way about being a Mom. I was feeling like that no matter how hard … Continue reading

LDS Family Week in Review: May 13th through 19th

It’s been a great week in the LDS Family Blog! I hope you enjoyed reading as much as Miriam and I enjoyed writing! Gospel Doctrine: This upcoming weekend is stake conference for our stake. Instead of my regular lesson-oriented scripture study, I’m hitting the topical guide for phrases that have peaked my interest. Since they don’t particularly relate, I have simply included them in the day-to-day summary. Monday, May 14th: In Dinner Discussions 2007 Week 17, we reviewed the topics covered at church last week. In Serving Sisters in Primary and Young Women, we talked about how we as sisters … Continue reading
